The Beginning

It all started back in 2016, waking up at 5am most weekends to walk around muddy car boot sales looking for anything worth picking up.

At the start, it was mainly trial and error. Mostly error, to be honest. I was picking up everything from bric-a-brac, video games and the odd jigsaw, just trying to figure out what worked.

It didn’t take long before I got hooked on clothing. At first it was for myself, but I quickly realised there was a real demand for good quality pre-loved pieces.

From there, I started to learn different styles and what people actually want to wear. The kind of pieces that stand the test of time and don’t just fall apart after a few washes.

That’s where it really began.

The Growth

As things started to progress, I began looking beyond car boot sales and local markets.

What started as a side hustle quickly became something more. I’d never worked for myself before, but it didn’t take long to realise there was real potential in it.

That led to working with recycling centres and suppliers across the UK, and eventually into Europe. Better access to stock, and more chance to be selective with what I picked.

At the same time, I started to see the bigger picture. The amount of clothing being thrown away, worn once, or never worn at all.

It made me look at things differently, and gave it a real sense of purpose beyond just making money.

The Future

The future? We’re never really too sure, are we.

For now, we just enjoy what we do. Finding good pieces, giving them a second life, and getting them into the hands of people who actually want to wear them.

The aim is simple. Keep improving the quality, keep the standard high, and offer a service people can rely on.

Long term, we want Brass Hanger to grow into a go-to for pre-loved clothing. Expanding sourcing, reaching more people, and continuing to build something that feels considered, not thrown together.
